Comment posted How long does Google take to react to a 301 redirect? by Andy.
Sorry – the post was rather long. The quick answer is…no change in SERPs noticed at all. Bear in mind it’s quite a small site in a niche topic who’s competition is a lot of very poorly designed websites. Will be making one last entry on this post once we have an update for the Toolbar, but fully agree with you – SERPs are all important – a little green bar doesn’t really mean all that much

- Why is no VAT paid in the Channel Islands?
Russel, I appreciate the comment. I don’t appreciate you citing Wikipedia as a source though – please point me to an official Channel Islands site.Having not bothered to read the Wikipedia page, I’d like to ask, if the Channel Islands has no connection to the UK:
1. How come the Royal Mail services the Channel Islands. You get to send an item anywhere in the UK using a first class stamp that costs the same as it does on the mainland, despite the obvious expense of a helicopter to get it accross the water. That sounds like a subsidy from the UK to the Channel Islands to me.
2. The Channel Islands isn’t in the EU – pretty sure that’s correct. That being the case, why are UK residents not charged import duty on goods “imported” from the Channel Islands like they would from any other non-EU location. That also sounds like a subsidy – I could Google the figure, but I don’t really need to. It’s going to be millions.
- Why is no VAT paid in the Channel Islands?
Dave, sorry to hear that – would love to see the comment.Steve, OK, perhaps blaming the demise of Woolworths entirely on cheap CD’s, DVD’s & games shipped from the Channel Islands without VAT is a bit strong. Yup, they were badly run, but also up until the mid nineties they were the largest music retailer in the UK. Maybe if they’d set up a half decent website and done the same thing they’d have fared better.
I still don’t think it’s right though – a handful making a fortune evading VAT while the masses over here (me being one of them) are staring down the barrel at huge tax increases in the coming months & years.
- C902 debrand from Vodafone – for free
Great to hear that Bill – and don’t for one second think other “debranding” file hasn’t occured to me as well
- C902 debrand from Vodafone – for free
Just download the file in my post – right click the link and “save as” to your desktop or somewhere. You do NOT need to rename it – it’s already got the right filename. Then using A2 Uploader copy it to tpa/preset/custom on the phone. That’s it! - C902 debrand from Vodafone – for free
wow – two (what appear to be) identical questions! Sounds like the phone hasn’t actually been changed.
Just to try and clear it up – if the Vodafone logos & branding are still appearing or and if SEUS isn’t offering you what you know to be the newest firmware, the phone still thinks it belongs to the network. When you’ve managed to overwrite the XML file SEUS will recognise your phone as factory default. When you view the file in Windows Explorer, you’ll need to tell Wwindows to display hidden and system files for the actual XML file to appear.
Hope this helps – I can promise it did work for me.

I have had this conversation with a client before when they asked me about 301′s. So I decided to just experiment with it myself, by doing a 301 on one of my personal websites and I will see how it goes. I used the .htaccess method. So we will see what happens! I am hoping at minimum that the SERPS are not affected in any drastic way… really that’s my main concern. PR makes no difference if rankings don’t fall in my opinion. Maybe the PR did transfer, but it’s just not showing yet for you? if your rankings an unchanged I would think the 301′s purposes was fullfilled in terms of seo.
