This version of Quake II will not install on this language version of Windows 95/NT. To find out if a version localized for your operating system is available for purchase, please contact your local Activision office.
Thought I'd give Quake II another spin this weekend, only to be presented with this rather spurios error during the install. I wasn't running XP (obviously!) when Quake II came out so I tried Googling the error. As usual, Google showed me a bunch of forum threads, none of which had the actual answer to the problem, just the usual vague collection of head scratching "maybe you should format your hard disk" type responses. Luckily the answer is pretty simple.
Goto Start>Control Panel>Regional & Language Options. Go to the Advanced tab. It'll probably look like this:

Just set it to United Kingdom so it looks like this:

Fairly obviously (I hope) this is how you fix it if you have the UK version. If not, use your own local country.

Supposedly there is an update to TBPR (tool-bar page rank - the green thing in you Google tool bar) going on right now. Not sure exactly whether or not anything is actually changing as none of my pages have changed. So......either my PR is staying the same at this juncture (no problem with that really) or the update is going to take a few more days to appear. Was kind of hoping tkd.tomcatuk.net would move up to a 5. Really ought to get the site finished though!

Will be performing a complete makeover to the template for this blog this week - it just ain't working the way it should.

FNARGGGGGGGGGGHHH this whole Blogger thing is turning into a bit of a nightmare. I got into this thinking I didn't want to just use a template, I'd rather create something unique, or at least a bit different. The result is hopefully embellishing the text your reading now.

Now I'm finding myself obsessed with the design, rather than posting to the bloody thing. Why aren't the bars going all the way to the bottom of the screen? How am I going to get the two horizontal bars to blend in with the sidebars better (bearing in mind I just about know what CSS stands for, let alone what it does)? And FOR HEAVENS sake, what on earth is the trouble with the page anyway? W3.org spits out 50 or so errors, basically snubbing what it obviously views as the pathetic half witted attempt of a rank amateur. I thought I knew a thing or two about computers, now I feel like a helpless, unwanted child. Argh!!!!!!

Last December James had his birthday party in a tank (11th birthday! - how the time flies). We took a long half a dozen of his friends and the consensus appeared to be that it was the best party any of them had ever been to.

The "tank" is a converted 432 Personnel Carrier - the guy who owns it built the turret and fitted the seats into it himself. There just happened to be one seat free so I got to ride in it with the boys - fantastic!

OK, apparently Microsoft are discontinuing Frontpage because no-one is building websites any more - just blogs. So my website becomes a blog - I wonder who will read it. My mother better turn up at least...
